Carding Machine | Objective, Process, Parts of Carding machine in Textile spinning | Carding in Spinning
Carding machine
Card machine:
Card machine is second
process machine in spinning which separate fiber to fiber and remove 75% trash
from it.
Objectives:
•
Opening to
individual fibers
•
Elimination of
impurities
•
Elimination of
dust
•
Disentangling
of Neps
•
Elimination of
short fibers
•
Fiber blending
•
Fiber
orientation
•
Sliver
formation
Carding process:
The second process of
spinning which input the laps or toughts and remove waste, dust, naps from the
fibers and open fiber to fiber. The output of the card is sliver.
Card machine parts:
1: Lap roller.
2: In feed roller
3: Taker in / Linker in
4: Cylinder
5: Moving Flats.
6: Doffer.
7: crusher roller.
8: calendaring / Take off
roller
9: coiler.
10: Trash box
11: suction pipes.
Function of Parts:
1.
Lap Roller:
The first roller of the machine which hold the lap roll and unwind it for to infeed in the carding machine.
2.
Infeed Roller:
The roll is running in high speed then lap roller (Because due to their high speed the lap is stressed between lap roller and infeed roller) infeed the material in the machine for to process in the machine.

3. Taker in/ Linker In:
Taker in is the first spikes roller which is snatched the fibers from infeed roller because its has very high speed then infeed roller. As the infeed roller work as holder & taker in snatch the material through spikes.
4. Cylinder Roller:
Cylinder have metallic spikes which is take
material from the taker in and circulate it on their surface 3-4 times and open
the material fiber to fiber.
The cylinder work with moving flats because
the moving flats can move with cylinder same direction or opposite direction.
As the material are in contact with
metallic wires or clothing of cylinder and flexible wiring of moving flats. The
wires become merged with each other and separate the fibers fiber to fiber.
The cylinder have high speed then taker-in/linker-in.
5. Moving Flats:
The moving flats is held above the cylinder
and work with cylinder. It contain flexible wires
Which merged with metallic wires of cylinder and combed the material and separate fiber to fiber. It has low speed then cylinder.
6. Doffer:
Doffer have also contain metallic wires
which make cotton web from the fibers. The cylinder throw the fibers on the
surface of doffer and it convert fiber into web (web is basically fibers
sheet).
7. Crush rollers:
The rollers which align & orient the
fibers in the web and move toward calendaring rollers.
8.
Calendaring rollers:
The rollers press the web which add the
strength in the web.
9. Coiler:
The coiler is basically held after calendaring
and crushing rollers which is made of hard plastic. Its infeed diameter is large
and outer diameter dia is set according to the diameter of sliver required. But
normally the outer diameter is small than infeed diameter of coiler.
10.Trash
box:
The trash box is held below the rollers
like taker in, cylinder, doffer, and crushing rollers. So waste is move down in
the trash box.
11.Suction
pump:
The cotton material contain dust and when the
material separate fiber to fiber the dust leave the fibers, The suction pump
have air and it remove the dust from the machine and environment.
